Z100–Z275: understanding zinc coating mass
Z275 does not mean 275 g/m² on each side: total coating mass versus thickness in microns.
Sources checked:Understand the Material
The Z class expresses coating mass as the total for both sides. Z275 does not mean 275 g/m² on each side. The micron values in ArcelorMittal’s table are typical thickness per side, not guaranteed measurements.
Environment, cut edges, storage and surface treatment affect corrosion performance. Galvanised steel is not stainless steel.
Technical Properties
| Class | Total for both sides, g/m² / typical µm per side |
|---|---|
| Z100 | 100 / 7 |
| Z140 | 140 / 10 |
| Z200 | 200 / 14 |
| Z275 | 275 / 20 |
| Z350 | 350 / 25 |
