EN 10204 3.1: reading a material certificate
Matching the product standard, heat number and test results to delivered material.
Sources checked:Understand the Material
An EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate states that the delivered product complies with the order and reports relevant test results. According to SSAB’s description, validation is performed by the manufacturer’s authorised inspection representative, independent of the production department. This does not automatically mean a third-party laboratory report.
A 3.2 certificate also involves the purchaser’s representative or an inspector designated under official regulations. The document’s scope depends on the order and product; read chemical analysis, mechanical tests, orientation and specimen conditions separately.
